Top 3 Most Impressive Overseas Trips

1. Saipan

When I was in the fourth grade of elementary school, my whole family took our first trip abroad. I was intrigued by the huge supermarket, the clear and beautiful ocean, and the people who spoke a language other than Japanese. I was walking alone in a hotel restaurant when I was approached by a guest who thought I was a staff member. I wondered, “How can this person think a little kid like me works here?” I was so surprised. I still remember the song that the band played on the cruise.

2. Istanbul and Cappadocia, Turkey

When I was in college, my best friend and I backpacked through Istanbul and Cappadocia in Turkey. We didn’t make hotel reservations in advance, but instead knocked on hotel doors to find available rooms. We bought long-distance bus tickets locally, and went ice skating together at the invitation of the hotel staff. I am amazed at how well I did in the age of no-Internet.

3. Fez and Marrakech, Morocco

We went to Fez and Marrakech in Morocco for our honeymoon. The scenery, the people on the street, and the scorching heat were all things I had never experienced in my life. On the last day, I took a cab to the airport, and the cab driver could not understand English for "station.” In desperation, I remembered the French word "gare" that I had learned in college a long time ago, and managed to make it to the airport.

Katsu Kaishu

Do we need to make a special effort to enjoy the beauty of the blue sky? Do we have to practice to be able to enjoy it? No, we just enjoy it.
